CANvas Open Call

CANvas is an exhibition of artworks created on spray cans,
presented by Art Fest in collaboration with Broadway Gallery.
This November, we’re inviting artists to create their own CANvas and be part of the show.

The open call is open to artists who would like to create an artwork using a spray can as their CANvas.
You can work directly onto a physical can or submit an artwork digitally for us to print and apply to a can.

Please complete a separate submission form for each CANvas.

All physical cans need to come clearly labelled with your artist name on the bottom of the can. -
Yes. All physically submitted CANvases will be displayed, provided the work is suitable for public exhibition.
Art Fest reserves the right not to exhibit work that we consider offensive, discriminatory, hateful, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate for the exhibition.

Yes.
If you’re unable to create or drop off a physical CANvas, you can submit your artwork digitally.
We’ll print your design and apply it to an empty spray can ready for the exhibition.

We only have a limited number of free cans available for digital submissions, so we cannot guarantee that every digital submission will be exhibited.
If your artwork is selected, we’ll email you to confirm your place in the show.

Yes.
You can choose to make your CANvas available for sale throughout the exhibition.
We recommend a minimum sale price of:
£50 for physically created CANvases
£30 for digitally printed CANvases
These are minimum recommendations only — you are welcome to price your artwork higher.

You have two options.
If you provide us with your own payment QR code, buyers can pay you directly and you will receive 100% of the sale.
Alternatively, Art Fest can handle the sale on your behalf. In this case, Art Fest will retain a 20% administration fee, with 80% of the sale price paid to you.

We want CANvas to become an ongoing Art Fest archive, building a collection that can be exhibited again at future Art Fest events and exhibitions.
If your CANvas does not sell, you can choose to:
Leave your CANvas with Art Fest and give us permission to retain and re-exhibit the physical artwork as part of the CANvas archive;
or
Take your CANvas back by collecting it from Broadway Gallery on the final day of the exhibition.

Copyright in your artwork remains with you.
